A Love Letter to Lalo

Within days of finding out I was expecting our first child, I began researching and planning ways to prep our space for baby. As someone with a love for interiors, my approach has been finding the best products that are not only functional, but integrate seamlessly into the home.
When it came to the larger pieces, such as a high chair, I truly felt like the options were limited. We found that most of the high chairs on the market were bulky and unattractive — not the qualities we wanted in something that would be in plain sight every day.
Enter Lalo, a brand of thoughtfully-designed essentials for baby and toddler that are as beautiful as they are functional. We fell in love with The Chair, a unique 3-in-1 design that goes from high chair to toddler chair to booster seat in a breeze. (It only took about 10 minutes to put together!) And the price point is incredible: $235 for the full kit, which includes everything you need for mealtime with your baby and then an extra set of legs to convert it into a play chair to use for toddler years and beyond (it supports up to 200 lbs!).
I love options and Lalo offers five different shades of neutral, minimalist colorways. We went with the color Coconut, a gorgeous creamy shade of white that keeps a cool, low-profile in our dining room. It could easily be worked into smaller spaces and is designed to be table height (28” to 30”), so little ones can enjoy meals around the table with you. And despite being a lighter shade, it’s easy to clean — the tray is dishwasher-safe and the removable cushion can go right into the washer.
Perhaps the most important feature of all is how safe and secure The Chair is. Compared to other high chairs we browsed, Lalo put thought into every detail. A 5-point safety harness will keep little ones safely and comfortably in their seat during mealtimes. Sturdy, wide legs keep the chair from rocking back and forth (something we noticed with a lot of other chairs on the market!). Plus, they’re made from smooth, sustainably-sourced wood with no sharp or bulky edges, are Prop-65 compliant, meet ASTM safety standards, and made of non-toxic materials. Like I said, Lalo truly thought of everything!
The Chair is built to grow with your baby, so when they’re too big for their high chair, it can seamlessly transition into a Play Chair. You can also turn it into a booster seat (Booster Conversion Kit sold separately) to give your child a seat at the table. I’m all about a piece that will serve us well for years to come.
